It Ain’t Your Grandma’s Sofa Anymore
December 4, 2014
Do you remember when your grandma’s sofa was covered in plastic? I actually can’t remember Grandma’s sofa ever not being this way. The rumor was that the plastic came off for extremely important guests, but somehow I must have missed those special days.
There’s no question about it, sofas get a lot of wear and tear. It’s not really all that surprising that wrapping sofas in plastic became a fad. Furniture is expensive and the desire to protect it, and make it last as long as possible, is a wonderful trait. I’m thinking now, however, that there may just be a better way.
Nowadays plastic covered furniture is out of vogue … unless it is a modern piece made of a fun, retro plastic. If you go to someone’s house and sit on plastic covered furniture, you are usually thinking one of two things. Either that you were not important enough for them to remove it, or that they are a bit neurotic and eccentric (to put a good spin on it). Either way, it creates an awkward atmosphere. Not something most of us want our guests to experience in our homes.
But this still leaves the problem of making your sofa last its lifetime without settling for stains, odors, or just that I’m-getting-worn-out look. Since you’ve made it here to our blog, you know what’s coming next.
Biting the bullet, and paying to have a professional come out to give your upholstery a deep, healthy clean is not the end of the world. And if you can look at it in a different light, you are actually saving yourself money in the long run by investing in your furniture now. Soil gets trapped in the fabrics of our upholstery. When people sit on that dirt infused fabric, then the soil gets pressed in and rubbed against the fibers. This in turn causes wear on the fabric and weakens it. Now it not only looks grimy, but you will need to replace your furniture sooner than you had been prepared to.
Upholstery cleaning is actually a win-win situation, even for the owner of that furniture. Yes, there is a cost, and yes, we have built a business on provided this particular service. But you are the one who reaps most of the reward from the investment. Taking care of the things we own is always less expensive than buying new ones. Even if buying new ones is a bit fun.
So the long and the short of it is this: upholstery lasts longer and looks better if you get it professionally deep cleaned on a regular basis. We are in the business of provided high quality upholstery cleaning and would love to be considered as your cleaner when the opportunity arises. Please give us a call, and let us show you the difference we can make!
